Widely considered one of the best and most dramatic trails in the world, the cumulative ascent of the whole Path is equalivent to scaling Everest four times. Why should I make my event Coast Path Friendly?

Events and tours help make experiencing the freedom and beauty of our Path easy and fun for people of all ages and backgrounds. However – they do impact the Trail.

Increasing public interest in conservation and a growing belief that we all have a role to play in caring for our beautiful places mean that being part of an initiative like this is a powerful promotional message for your event that will increase take up.

The whole National Trail family is now encouraging event and tour companies to give back in a similar way. Our hope is that participants will soon look for digital badges like ours when choosing which events to sign up for.

The Path is free to use, why does it need charity support?

How would you run your business if managed, way-marked National Trails like the South West Coast Path didn’t exist? Over 9 million people, including your participants, use the Coast Path every year to experience nature and adventure as well as support their mental and physical well-being, but most don’t realise the hard work and fundraising needed to keep the coastline accessible.

Cuts to government funding for the National Trails, climate change exposing the Path to severe weather, and erosion from the feet of millions of visitors each year means the Coast Path requires more support than ever before to keep it in world-class condition.

We look forward to welcoming you to the scheme!
