Photographer of the Year

The South West Coast Path Photographer of the Year 2019 is now closed, thank you so much to everyone who has entered. We are now shortlisting, so watch this space, Ian Finch's winner will be announced soon!

Our annual photography competition is back for 2019 and calling on coast lovers nationwide to get out and capture the magic and wonder of the South West Coast Path. Young or old, professional or amateur – this competition is a chance for everyone to celebrate England’s longest National Trail and all it has to offer. As renowned photographer Ansell Adam’s once said, “There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs.” So get out there, get inspired and get snapping! There's no limit to the number of entries, so feel free to submit all your favourite shots. We can accept images up to 5MB in size.

What are we looking for?

The South West Coast Path is an absolute haven for photographers and we're looking for you to celebrate its rich and varied diversity. From craggy rocks and rolling hills to sultry sunsets and crashing waves, mother nature provides a bounty of subject material. But you needn’t focus only on stunning views. This competition is open to all types of photos, so if you’d rather turn your lens to something other than the natural landscape, go right ahead! In the past, we’ve had some incredible entries that show other aspects of life on the Coast Path such as wildlife, coastal towns and villages, urban cityscapes and inspiring shots of people hiking the Path.

Not only will you earn the coveted title of South West Coast Path Photographer of the Year, but thanks to our friends at Beach Retreats you’ll also win £500 towards a luxury holiday in Cornwall. We also have three Nikon School photography course vouchers that will be awarded to the overall winner and two lucky runners up.

Managing Director of Beach Retreats Andy Easton said:

"We love celebrating the breath-taking Cornish coastline through photography at Beach Retreats and we are all weekend snappers here! We are so excited to be supporting the search for the 2019 South West Coast Path Photographer of the Year and can’t wait to welcome the winner (and their camera!) to one of our luxury self-catering properties on the Trail."
