Being exposed to the elements, and the feet of millions of walkers, the Coast Path always needs work to keep it in tip-top condition. The reduction in funding for maintenance from the government means that the organisations that care for the Path struggle to find the resources to undertake essential repairs and improvements. As a result the Association has stepped up to raise money from membership, grants and donations and below are a selection of the projects we would like to fund.
Where possible we use donations as ‘match’ funding so that every pound we receive goes that much further. For example, the money raised during the South Hams appeal proved to be vital in securing a large grant from the Coastal Communities Fund to repair the Coast Path in 35 locations where it was damaged by the severe storms of 2013 and 2014.
