AGM 2019 Round Up

This year the AGM kicked off with a warm welcome from Chair, Ken Carter, followed by an introduction to the day by Director, Julian Gray. Julian then introduced Richard Andrews of Natural England to give an update on the latest regional and national picture relating to the England Coast Path.

The South West Coast Path will still be designated in its own right as a National Trail. With benefits of the England Coast Path including opening up access to the coastal margin, giving the trail the ability to respond to coastal change through 'roll back' and enabling a better balance between the interests of walkers and landowners.

Other morning presentations came from members of the Association staff team; Julian Gray, Richard Walton, National Trail Officer, Alex Turner, Education Officer and Emily Stokes, Supporter Manager.

These sessions ranged from updates on national and international partnership work, local educational and engagement projects as well as learning more about this years fundraising activities like the step up appeal and the new look Challenge.

Lunch was taken by most members in The Falmouth Hotel's bar and brasserie, as the weather was less than kind to venture very far. Some members did get out and have a bracing walk along Castle Beach!

In the afternoon the formal AGM agenda started at 2.00pm and ended with completers receiving their certificates from the Chair. More Completion photos can be found here.

Special thanks were given during the meeting to Andrew Lack, Steve Church and Keith Wainwright who have stood down this year as Trustees. Steve will remain working closely with the Association as Chair of the Path Committee and Keith as a local representative volunteer.
