AGM Member walks 2022
Below are the details of the member walks being help on the 11th and 12th June as part of the AGM. You can register for 1 or more event by selecting the 'register' button below each event. We hope to see you there.
EXMOOR/SOMERSET
Saturday 11th June 2022 10.30am to 1pm
Grading: Moderate
Theme: Minehead the start of the SWCP
Walk Leaders: Geoff and Chris - Association Reps
Summary: Join our local guide on a walk of approx. 4 miles to explore the area around Minehead, the start of the SWCP National Trail
The guided walk will start at 10.30 am from Minehead Heritage Steam Railway car park (café will be open from 10am), in the heart of Minehead. We will then walk down to the quay and along to the official start of the SWCP before following the coast path west wards. There is a steep incline up North Hill where there will be plenty of stops to look out to sea and enjoy the view where on a clear day you can see over to South Wales.
WEST CORNWALL
Saturday 11th June 2022 10.15am – 2pm
Grading: Moderate
Theme: Carbis Bay / St Ives circular
Walk leaders: Margaret and Pete - Association Reps
Summary: Join our local guides on a walk of approx. 6 miles to explore the area around St Ives and Carbis Bay
We will be meeting at St Erth train station (Car parking St Erth Park and Ride - £2.90 for day) with refreshment and toilets available at St Erth station. We will take the 10.22 train (£6 return ticket to St Ives) arriving at Carbis Bay at 10.30am. We will then walk along the Coast Path through St Ives and continue west to Hellesveor Cliff returning on an inland route to St Ives. From there you can choose to stay for a while in St Ives and make your own way back to St Erth or we will be returning on the 14.06 train from St Ives station which will arrive St Erth at 14.18 (Please Note that trains go every half hour from St Ives to St Erth station).
SOUTH DEVON/ SOUTH CORNWALL
Sunday 12th June 2022 10.15am – 2.45pm
Grading: Moderate
Theme: Cornwall's Hidden Corner
Walk leaders: John, Linda, Chris - Association Reps and Julian Gray SWCPA director
Summary: Join us on a walk of approximately 5 miles around Mount Edgcumbe and Rame peninsula visiting some of the heritage of the area
Meet at Admirals Hard (Plymouth) to catch the 10.15am Ferry to Cremyll (or meet at 10.30am at Cremyll slip). From there the walk will go through Mount Edgecumbe and around parts of the Rame peninsula. We will stop off and look at one of the historic redoubt forts. Refreshments can be purchased from The Canteen at Maker or bring your own refreshments. We will arrive back to catch the 2.30 Cremyll Ferry.
DORSET/JURASSIC COAST
Sunday 12th June 2022 10am – 1pm
Grading: Moderate
Theme: Explore the Jurassic Coast
Walk leaders: Lorna Sherriff - SWCPA National Trails Officer
Summary: Join us on a walk of approximately 5 miles around the Southern part of the wild, natural and ruggedly beautiful Isle of Portland
This tied island is the southern-most point on the Jurassic Coast and is joined to the mainland by Chesil Beach. Meet at Portland Bill Car park (£5 for 4 hours). Bring some refreshments for on the walk. Café and toilets available in the car park.
