Walk this way for the inaugural Land's End Walking Weekend
The inaugural Land’s End Walking Weekend is to take place from 28-29 September, co-organised by
the South West Coast Path Association to highlight the natural beauty that surrounds this well-known attraction.
Walkers can choose between a morning or afternoon guided walk on the Saturday or Sunday, all of which are gentle strolls along one of the most stunning coastlines in the world.
Each walk takes in part of the South West Coast Path as it skirts the edges of the country’s most south-western extremity. All walks are circular, beginning and ending at Land’s End and giving all participants the chance to take advantage of their Walking Weekend vouchers to save £5 off lunches at the Land’s End Restaurant.
The programme of walks will start on Saturday morning with a gentle introductory walk of less than two miles, following a figure of eight all within close proximity to Land’s End and taking less than an hour.
The afternoon walk leads to Sennen Cove, Land’s End’s attractive neighbour to the north, returning along the Coast Path via historic and prehistoric features and stories of shipwrecks and smugglers. This walk is about three miles in length and should take about an hour and a half.
On Sunday morning, you can really appreciate and enjoy the natural landscape with a longer walk of about 5.25 mile and approximately 3 ½ hours
This walk starts by heading south along the Coast Path to a beautiful bay before crossing the peninsula to Sennen Cove on the north side, returning to Land’s End along the coast and thus encircling the whole of the country’s western extremity.
Finally, on Sunday afternoon there’s a repeat of Saturday morning’s short exploration around Land’s End itself.
The South West Coast Path Association will be guiding the walks over the weekend and will also be hosting a display at Land’s End where members will be present to explain all about the Coast Path and the Association, the organisation that represents those who use the Coast Path and wish to see it maintained and improved.
All the walks are free, but any donations will be gratefully received. All the funds the Association raises go into improvements on the Coast Path, and all those who take part in the walks will realise just what a fabulous resource this is.
It's free to take part and you can just turn up on the day but it would be helpful if you register your interest in attending by contacting the Association on 01752 896 237 or email email@example.com
